good Bear

I’ve been scribbling, scrawling and sketching since I was a kid —drawing and painting took me to places that only I could imagine. It let my 3rd eye venture off, run wild and guided my hands to make cool stuff— unbeknownst to me, Mom saw something different in me, and put me to work designing church program posters and flyers, reminding me to do my best because I was “doing it for Jesus.”

Fast forward, with integrity in my right hand and verging art talents in my left, and the middle a core of “bring your A-game, contribute to the team, and can’t stop me” attitude made rock solid on the gridiron, I was set up with an Art/Graphic Design degree, and got fired up to tackle the rough & tumble business of advertising.

Winning over clients and their audiences began for me in San Diego at Phillips-Ramsey. I made my way to New York, Bethesda, New Orleans, and Los Angeles, where for over 25 years I turned art into a science for some notable ad shops, and where I…

  • kept red caps top of mind for America’s favorite go-to multi-use product
  • broadcasted a revolutionary fishing line, that reeled in apex anglers worldwide
  • inspired and empowered everyday decorators & DIYer’s to improve home improvements
  • brought tourism back to Louisiana by turning hurricane Katrina and Rita stories into, “A story like no other.”
  • covered Californians with access to affordable healthcare coverage
  • rallied community neighbors across the country to take back their lives’ from COVID

…and racked up many more feel-good highlights.

I worked under some great Creative Directors, studied other brilliant creatives and industry pros all of whom I thought were a concept version of God.

Now, I’m walking in those footsteps. For good. Searching for the truth in products and services that make our world a better place. Putting some more gold on the mantle, but more importantly, drawing out the shiny in you and sharing it with others, with the talents I got.

My mojo? I’m a listener, a thinker, a concept guy, a storyteller, a brand builder, a bridge maker, an artificer, a servant leader; Art Director. People Director.

Ideation; Concepts; Creative Direction; Art Direction; Design; And plenty of years living the human experience with other humans. All of which are not just my skill set, but also a time-tested and proven process that enables me to create, “Effective award-winning integrated ad campaigns that work across media and cultures.” Branding and rebranding solutions for Mom & Pops, Startups, Happy Mediums, Big Dogs, Charity Cases and Blank Canvas companies alike.

Always top of mind —Is the work Fresh? Artful? Human? Genuine? Personal? Memorable?— keeps “Big-ups!” coming from clients, industry pros and viewers.

You betcha! Cannes Lions Finalist, One Show, a national and multiple local AAF ADDYs, (I served as a judge on several ADDYs creative show competition panels across the country. What a privilege and a blast it was to honor industry talent!) PRSA, USAdReview and PRINT design annuals. And I received the highest honor in my book, Joy— joy in connecting “Brands & People” for win-win relationships along-side my ad and marketing compadres.

Fulltime; Virtual Boutique owner; Freelance(onsite and remote); 3 different time zones (sometimes simultaneously)— I‘ve worked with ad agencies on all kinds of brands, from celebrated companies to local business, and a bunch of in-betweens. Agencies include Phillips-Ramsey; Bulldog Drummond; Footsteps; Equals Three; GMc+ Company and LAGRANT Communications, among others.

Just the tip of the iceberg, if you catch my drift:

When not helping brands shine in the marketplace, you can find me mentoring next-gen advertising heroes, and on San Diego’s shorelines or out at sea fishing with inner-city kids, guiding them so their lives shine too.
